Vail incorporation initiative on the ballot November 5, 2013

Thanks to the hard work of many volunteers in Vail, we were notified earlier this week by Pima County election officials that the Vail incorporation initiative will be placed on the ballot on November 5, 2013.  To incorporate a potential town or city in Arizona, ten percent of the registered voters living within the proposed town or city boundary must sign a petition supporting the referendum.  Vail needed 717 valid signatures to qualify.  According to the election officials, 1,027 were validated, or 43% more than was required.  MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO WALKED NEIGHBORHOODS, COLLECTED SIGNATURES AT WALGREENS, HELPED SPREAD THE WORD, ETC.  The response from members  of the community was overwhelmingly in support of the prospect of incorporation.

We still have lots of work to do to inform and educate voters within the boundary before November about the incorporation.  Many volunteers will be needed to 1). Assist in the effort of informing friends and neighbors, and 2). Please donate funds to help cover the costs of buying advertising space, purchasing and placing signage, holding town hall meetings, mailings, etc.  Simply click on the donate button on our home page to make a donation.  Any size contribution would be appreciated.  Also, please indicate your interest and availability to assist in the effort.

We’re VERY PLEASED to announce that Jeannie Haldorsen is going to lead our Vail Incorporation campaign!  Jeannie is a bundle of enthusiasm and is very supportive of this effort.  She has some wonderful experience in understanding how to run a campaign.  WELCOME JEANNIE!

This is an historic opportunity to help shape and improve the future of Vail.  WE HAVE PROVEN that a small number of individuals in a community can make a difference.  The Incorporation initiative can only succeed if many people can step up and assist in getting the message out.  Let’s take this initiative all the way to a successful conclusion!

Thanks in advance for your support,
