The Vail Vision Committee under the direction of the Vail Community Action Board (VCAB) has recommended incorporation of the Town of Vail. This recommendation was presented at a town hall meeting on Monday, October 29, 2012. See the slides that were presented.
Accordingly, the work of the Vail Vision Committee has been concluded. The next effort is to take the proposal to the voters that live within the proposed boundaries to see if they would like to pursue incorporation. This is done through community outreach efforts to educate the public on the benefits of incorporation and to seek signatures on a petition to hold an election.
If 10% of the registered voters in the proposed boundaries sign the petition, an election will be held in November 2013. If 51% of the voters in the election vote in favor of incorporation, then, the Town of Vail will be in existence effective with the date of the election.
Since the VCAB must remain politically neutral, they will no longer sponsor the effort. Accordingly, a new Incorporate Vail Committee is being formed to promote and sponsor the campaign. All citizens that would like to participate are invited to make their willingness known by attending the monthly meetings held the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Rincon Fire Station #2 (off of Marsh Station Road) at 6:30pm and/or by sending an email to: Assistance will be needed both in time and money. Time to promote the effort and money to print the literature and advertising.
